The FICTS – Fédération Internationale Cinéma Télévision Sportifs has awarded its prestigious Guirlande d'Honneur 2024 to actor Stefano Fresi for "Io & Ayrton", the "monologue-event" written by GJ Squarcia about the life of Ayrton Senna, which was subsequently adapted into a documentary film.
The award ceremony took place on Tuesday, November 5th at 5:30 PM at the Auditorium Testori in Palazzo Regione Lombardia, as part of "SPORT MOVIES & TV 2024 – 42nd Milano International FICTS Fest".
The Guirlande d'Honneur, the highest honor bestowed by the FICTS and recognized by the IOC (International Olympic Committee), is awarded to individuals and institutions that have distinguished themselves in promoting the cultural and ethical values of sport through cinema and television. With this recognition, Fresi joins the prestigious FICTS Hall of Fame, whose members include some of the most celebrated names in entertainment and culture: Martin Scorsese, Hugh Hudson, Giuseppe Tornatore, José Carreras, Robert Redford, Leni Riefenstahl, Ennio Morricone, Alberto Sordi, Bud Spencer, Philippe Leroy, Franco Zeffirelli, Hugh Laurie, and Zhang Yimou.
The event was attended by national and international figures from the worlds of sport, cinema, and television.
